SHELBY — More than 800 rubber ducks were dropped Saturday from Shelby’s Main Street bridge into the Black Fork River.

Saturday evening marked the second annual “Hudson’s Duck Drop,” which took place from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Parrot Head Pub, 16 Mohican St.

The fundraiser is organized by Charlie and Kate Curren and honors their late son, Hudson, while raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.

Charlie said 870 ducks were purchased for this year’s race down the Black Fork River. Ducks were purchased by supporters from as far away as California and New Jersey, he added.

The event featured food and beverages, a kids’ zone, games and live music, among other activities.
