Jeannine A. Martin, born on March 24, 1952, in Galion, Ohio, was called to her heavenly home on June 15, 2024, at the age of seventy-two. In the days leading up to her passing, love and prayers of family and friends surrounded her both near and far. After a brave battle with illness, she passed peacefully with the sound of ocean waves playing while under the gentle care of Hospice of Cincinnati staff.

A devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Ann (Schill) and Melvin Enders, her brothers, Jerry Enders, Jim Enders, and Jack Enders. She is survived by her daughter Deanna Martin (Kathleen Murray) of Cincinnati, her son Derrick Martin (Christine Martin) of Mansfield, and her cherished granddaughters, Audrey Martin, and Delaney Martin (Mansfield). She also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Jeannine graduated from Galion High School and The Ohio State University School of Cosmetology. She worked alongside her mother at Ann’s Beauty Shop, eventually becoming the sole owner upon Ann’s retirement. Known for her exceptional skills and compassionate heart, Jeannine was a top cosmetologist in the area, often providing services at no cost to those in financial need. Her generosity extended to styling the hair of countless friends and family members.

A lover of the outdoors and a water enthusiast, Jeannine took to swimming at a young age and excelled as a synchronized swimmer in high school and college. Her passion for nature led her to spend weekends camping with family and friends, instilling a love for the outdoors in her children, nieces, and nephews.

During her early retirement, Jeannine enjoyed her second home at Marblehead, creating unforgettable adventures with loved ones at Put-In-Bay and Kelley’s Island on legendary “girls’ trips” and family trips. She delighted in boating, beach walks, and watching the sunset over Lake Erie.

Jeannine spent her later retirement years in Placida, Florida, where she continued to forge new friendships and share her many talents. A lover of art and creativity, she filled her home and others with beautiful sea creations, stained glass, floral arrangements, ceramic paintings and more. She cherished her time with family, grandchildren, and friends – embarking on boating and fishing adventures, especially to Cabbage Key, and savoring her favorite nightly ritual of watching the sunset at Boca Grande.

Jeannine’s life was a testament to her faith, love, and generosity. She taught us all how to have fun with her quirky sense of humor, to let loose and laugh, and to lean on and support your friends and family through the hard times. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held later this summer with family and friends on August 24th at Lake Erie. More event information will be forthcoming on her Facebook profile.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeannine’s memory to Hospice of Cincinnati or the Central Ohio Group Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, an organization she passionately supported.

“There are many rooms in My Father’s house. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going away to make a place for you. After I go and make a place for you, I will come back and take you with Me. Then you may be where I am.” -John 14:2-3
