Susan “Sue” Brissell, cherished wife, mother and sister, passed away May 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Sue lived a life full of love, laughter and dedication to her family and passions. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Born on February 19, 1958, in Mansfield, Ohio to parents Charles Edward “Ed” & Lauretta (Metz) Taylor she graduated from Malabar High School with the class of 1976.
She worked as an inspector and machinist at Mansfield Screw Machine for 42 years and was an outstanding employee there before retiring in 2018.
Outside of work, Sue had an extraordinary gift for flower gardening, meticulously ensuring every bloom was in its perfect place, transforming her garden into a vibrant oasis of color and beauty. Her green thumb and artistic touch could be seen by anyone. She also enjoyed watching birds in her backyard, the companionship of her feline friends, fast cars and listening to rock and roll music.
She was a talented baker, Sue’s cookies and cakes were legendary among friends and family. Her kitchen was often filled with the delightful aromas of freshly baked treats, and her creations were the highlight of many gatherings and celebrations.
Sue’s adventurous spirit led her on many travels with her dear sister, exploring new places and creating treasured memories everywhere they went. She was even one of the first ones to go and visit her sister when she moved to Arizona.
A devoted mother, Sue never missed a single ball game of her son Travis. Her unwavering support and enthusiastic cheers from the sidelines were a testament to her love for her family. She was his biggest fan and greatest supporter, celebrating every victory and offering comfort in times of defeat.
Known affectionately as “Aunt Snack Sue” on family camping trips, Sue’s knack for bringing the best snacks made her a favorite among nieces and nephews. Her thoughtful preparation and generosity turned every camping trip into a special adventure, filled with laughter, fun, and delicious treats.
Sue is survived by her husband Ted Brissell; son Travis (Aimee) Brissell; sister Linda (Larry) Callahan of AZ as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Taylor.
The Brissell family will accept friends Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4-7pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her services will be held Friday beginning at 11am. Celebrant Dave Roberts will officiate.
The family requests that donations be made in Sue’s name to the Richland County Humane Society.
