BCURYSUS – In the aftermath of severe storms and tornadoes that recently swept through Crawford County, Wombat Solar, a utility-scale solar project, has stepped up its community engagement efforts to support the city of Bucyrus.

Recognizing the challenges faced by local businesses in the wake of the natural disaster, Wombat Solar launched a grant program aimed at providing much-needed assistance to those affected.

Several local businesses in Bucyrus suffered significant damage, including roof destruction and water damage, as a result of the tornadoes. In response, Wombat Solar created a grant program to support these businesses in their recovery efforts.

Through this initiative, Wombat Solar has awarded grants totaling over $31,000 to 15 different local businesses, helping them to rebuild and get back on their feet.

“The grant from Wombat Solar was very helpful to us in the interim before we could get insurance payments. They were among the first to offer us help,” said Leslie Barto, owner of The Computer Guru, one of the grant recipients.

“We are deeply committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and we understand the importance of standing together in times of need,” said Leah Cordy, Director of Community Relations of Wombat Solar.

“We are proud to be able to provide this assistance to the businesses of Bucyrus as they work to recover from the devastating effects of the tornadoes.”

Outside of the Rebuild and Recover Grant for tornado relief, Wombat Solar also offers a quarterly grant opportunity for non-profits in Crawford County. Organizations can request up to $10,000 each quarter.
