MANSFIELD –The Mansfield Richland County Public Library (MRCPL) is partnering with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank (GCFB) to help fight food insecurity for Richland County’s children.
Starting Thursday, May 9, the MRCPL Main Library will begin distributing Backpack Meals to children 18 and under.
Each Backpack Meal bag includes a shelf-stable two-day supply of meals, including two breakfasts, two entrees, and two snacks.
At this time, meals will be distributed only at the Main Library and can be conveniently picked up at the Children’s Department circulation desk beginning at 4:30 p.m. each Thursday while supplies last. There are no eligibility requirements to receive meals.
“This partnership with the GCFB is a fantastic way for the Library to extend our mission by serving the diverse needs of the Mansfield area and contributing to a more vibrant quality of life for our community,” says Jessica Ney, MRCPL Community Engagement Coordinator.
The Main Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
The Library is proud to be an equal opportunity provider. For more information about the Backpack Meal program, visit mrcpl.org.
