Roger J. Beaudet, age 76, of Galion, passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2024, joining his heavenly Father. He was born on April 21, 1948 in Manchester, NH to Doris (Britton) and Roger U. Beaudet.

On June 21, 1970, Roger married the love of his life, Betsy Unckrich. Together they raised two daughters, Ann (Mark) Miller of Tiffin, OH and Jennifer (Rich) Elsasser of Georgetown, TX. Roger adored his five grandchildren, Samantha (Scott) Bauer, Peyton Miller, Trey, Drew, and Jace Elsasser.

Roger was a 1967 graduate of West High School in Manchester, NH, where his passion for football led him to be the 2nd leading scorer in all of New Hampshire. He continued his football career at Ohio Northern University, where he met his wife, Betsy. He earned a Bachelor of Education in 1971, and later a Master’s degree in counseling from Bowling Green State University.

With a career that spanned decades, Roger touched many young lives as a physical education teacher at Lancaster High School and Galion Elementary. As a compassionate guidance counselor at Danbury Lakeside, Hopewell-Loudon, and Madison High School, he provided invaluable advice and direction for his students. Throughout Roger’s teaching career, he coached football, golf, basketball, volleyball, and cross country.

As a sport’s enthusiast, and a strong promoter of an active lifestyle, Roger found his community at the YMCA. He also won numerous races throughout many years of his running career. Roger was a competitor in everything he did from triathlons, running, golf, pickleball, and much more!

Most importantly, he was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, deeply engaged in his faith in Jesus Christ. Above all, Roger held his family closest to his heart. He maintained strong bonds with them by sending them scripture devotions via family group text every day.

Roger’s most cherished moments were spent with his beloved wife Betsy. They enjoyed walking, hiking, bike riding, traveling, and dancing. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes Fan. Fondly remembered as “Roger the Dodger” by family and friends, his legacy will forever live on.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife Betsy, daughters Ann and Jennifer, sons-in-law Mark and Rich, and grandchildren Samantha, Peyton, Trey, Drew, and Jace.
