Richard E. Chronister, 94, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 after a short stay at Lexington Court Care Center, his primary residence at Primrose Retirement Community.
Richard was born August 26, 1929 in Mifflin Township, Ohio. He was the son of Albert and Eulah (Hineman) Chronister. Richard served in the National Guard at Mansfield Lahm in Mansfield, Ohio. A dedicated employee, he retired after 33 years from Shafer Valve. A man of faith, Richard was a member of Woodville Grace Brethren. He enjoyed traveling out west with his wife, Becky. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, both men and women, he cheered for them all.
He is survived by his son, David (Kim) Chronister; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah “Becky” Chronister; and his siblings, Dorothy Garner, William Chronister, Don Chronister, and Cloren Chronister.
Guests will be received from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. Pastor TJ Hahn will officiate the funeral service on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
