LOUDONVILLE — A 1.5 mill permanent improvement levy for Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village Schools received just under 64% of the vote in Loudonville Tuesday night.

Election results from March 19 show 1,275 total votes cast, with 813 for the levy.

“We are grateful for our community and their support of the Redbirds,” said Jennifer Allerding, the district’s superintendent, in a press release Wednesday. “This renewal enables us to maintain our current facilities and repair aging infrastructure.”

The levy, put on the ballot after a set of special board meetings in December, will fund the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment.

According to minutes from a special board meeting Dec. 18, four present members of the board approved a “resolution of necessity” to renew the levy.

A press release from the district Wednesday morning announced the levy’s passage. It stated that earmarked expenditures from the renewal include a slew of repairs. Those repairs include:

  • Sewer and water line replacement at Loudonville High School
  • Visitor bleacher replacement
  • Fieldhouse ceiling repairs
  • Floor tile and abatement at McMullen Elementary
  • Interior and exterior repairs across various school properties
  • Bus garage maintenance

The release also stated the district has worked with Garmann Miller, an architectural firm focused on K-12 schools, “to conduct a facilities assessment and develop a master facilities plan.”

In an email to Ashland Source Wednesday, Allerding said the district “has been working with approximately 45 members of our LP community to receive feedback on how to move forward related to facilities and planning.”

The press release the district sent about the levy said it will “soon” be seeking more community feedback as the planning process moves forward.
