MANSFIELD – Richland County high school students are invited to apply for a new summer camp Electronics for Beginners.

The camp takes place on Monday, June 24 through Thursday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.

Students will learn the basics of Arduino programming while creating innovative designs. They will learn how hardware and software are coupled together to create new tech with their own supplied kit.

Students will also understand the foundational concepts of using a microcontroller, a physical programmable circuit board, and interactive electronic devices.

They will keep their Arduino kit to share their creations with family and friends.

Richland County students who will be enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2024-2025 school year and have an interest in Arduino programming are encouraged to apply. No experience is necessary.

Applications are due by March 29, 2024. There are 15 spots available. The camp is funded through a Microsoft TechSpark grant, and there is no cost to participate.

The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development and the 179th Cyberspace Wing are collaborating to provide Richland County students with an introduction to technology-based career pathways.

“This program is designed to inform and inspire students,” said Angie Cirone, Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation Director. “Each day will be hands-on and interactive.

“The experience will help students determine if they enjoy programming.”
