Paul Raymond Hunter, of Ontario, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Paul was born on February 27, 1924 to the late Floyd and Luella (Murphy) Hunter in Columbus, Ohio. On July 22, 1946, he married Clara Brown in Marion, Ohio.

He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during WW2. Paul retired after 43 years at Tecumseh Products . In his younger days, he ran track, helped coach his son’s Little League baseball team, Indy car racing and spent countless hours volunteering for the Athletic Boosters at Pleasant Schools. He loved to play golf, even at 98 years old and spending time with family. He will truly be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clara Hunter; his granddaughter, Lynsey R. Hunter; and his brother, Art Murphy.

Those who will cherish his memories include his children: Shirley (Joe) Higley of Marion, Ohio, Roger (Gloria) Hunter of Mansfield, Ohio, Gloria (Mark) Carlson of New Auburn, Wisconsin and Anita Douville of Ontario, Ohio; his eight grandchildren Steve (Linda) Higley of Mars Hill, NC, Joe (Lesa) Higley of Marengo, OH, Olivia (Joe) Hawkins of Delaware, OH, Erik (Amy) Carlson of Longmont, CO, Staff Sgt. Patrick (Mindy) Carlson of Dover, DE, Nick (Jessy) Carlson of Cottage Grove, WI, Chris (Tamie) Douville of Lexington, OH and Jonathan (Jessica) Douville of Medina, OH and eleven great grandchildren: Kylah Cochran, Ellianna Douville, Hunter Douville, Aubrey Douville, Harper Douville, Hadley Douville, CiCi Albanese, Dayton Albanese, Jeriah Vanrite, Michayla Hawkins and Ava Hawkins.

Friends and family may come to honor Paul’s life from 12pm to 1pm on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Boyd Funeral Home 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, OH. A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Lintern officiating and the Marion Area Veteran’s Council closing with military honors.

A burial will follow the funeral service at Marion Cemetery. Paul’s family wishes to show their gratitude to the staff of Trustwell Mansfield Place for their wonderful care this past year and to Southern Care Hospice for their care in the last month of Paul’s life.
