SHELBY — A man was arrested Monday morning in connection with the PNC bank robbery on Nov. 23, according to a press release from the Shelby Police Department.
Zachary Price, 30, was located on Monday at approximately 10 a.m. by the United States Marshal Service and taken into custody, according to Shelby Police. Price will face an extradition hearing in Franklin County before being released to local custody.
Detective Adam Turner said Price was identified on Nov. 29, and a robbery warrant was issued for his arrest by the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office and filed with Shelby Municipal Court.
That ID was the result of numerous tips from the public, Turner said, as well as the completed Ohio BCI examination of forensic evidence collected at the scene of the crime by the Shelby Police Department.
Due to conflicting information regarding Price’s whereabouts and out of concern for public safety, the United States Marshal’s Service, Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force was contacted and requested to apprehend Price.
Shelby Police continued investigating and evidence gathering into the offense, in cooperation with the Mansfield Office of the FBI and the Mansfield Police Department.
“As a result of that fugitive investigation, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Mansfield Office of the FBI, the Mansfield Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service,” Shelby Police Chief Lance Combs said. “Without their cooperation and assistance, we would not be at this critical point in this investigation, and would certainly not have the suspect in custody as quickly as we did.”
No further information was available at the time of publication.
