MADISON TOWNSHIP — They battled to a stalemate earlier this month, so Madison and Ontario will settle matters Monday evening.
The second-seeded Rams and No. 6 Warriors will meet in the district semifinals at 7 p.m. Monday at Lexington High School in the Division II district semifinals.
Top-seeded Lexington will square off against No. 5 seed Edison at 6 p.m. Monday at Clyde.
Madison opened sectional play with a 10-0 win over No. 10 Clyde and followed with an 8-1 win over No. 9 Galion. Logan Davis had a hat trick in the win over the Tigers while James Wagner added a pair of goals. Wagner has 19 goals and 11 assists on the season, while Davis has 11 goals and 13 assisgs.
Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference champ Ontario opened tournament play with a 3-0 win over eighth-seeded Clear Fork and followed with a 3-0 upset of No. 3 Vermilion. Kyle Woods leads the Warriors with 11 goals on the season.
Ohio Cardinal Conference champ Lexington, which was ranked fifth in Division II in the most recent coaches association state poll, thundered through the sectional tournament. The Minutemen opened with an 11-0 win over 11th-seeded Mansfield Senior and followed with a 10-0 win over No. 12 Tiffin Columbian.
The Minutemen (17-1) have won 16 straight matches and have 10 shoutouts on the season.
The winner of Monday’s semifinal matches will be for a district championship at 6 p.m. Thursday at a site to be determined.
