“We would like to thank the community for their help with identifying this suspect,” Lt. Robert Skropits said. “Without the assistance of our citizens, crimes like this would be much more difficult to solve in a timely manner.”

According to a Mansfield Police press release, this arrest is in reference to several “911” calls received on May 3 at 2:13 p.m. when officers were summoned to 737 Bowman Street for a shooting. When police arrived they found Lovett laying in the yard with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Ohio Health Mansfield hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Bond was arrested after evidence processing, various tips, and investigative leads.

There are no further details to release at this time as to what led to the shooting as the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Det. Bill Bushong at 419-755-9432 or Lt. Skropits at 419-755-9755.
