WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — Two people were found deceased during a well-being check, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

Cody T. Keller, 29, and his wife, Megan E. Keller, 34, were found dead in their home on the 2500 block of Touby Road in Mansfield.

“I was told that there was a new coal burner installed and they were worried about that malfunctioning and causing high levels of carbon monoxide,” the RCSO incident report, written by James Berry said. “I tried opening the doors  and windows  and noticed a rotten egg odor…”

The report said Cody worked Gorman Rupp and Megan worked for Wooster Police department as a supervisor.

The Washington Fire Department came and forced entry into the home, according to the report.

“The carbon monoxide detector started to alarm that the levels were to[o] high and we had to exit the house. According to the Washington Fire Department, the levels were at 4,000.”

The sheriff’s office is investigating the deaths.

“All (evidence) indicates it was an accidental monoxide poisoning,” Major Joe Masi said.
