MANSFIELD — City Police are looking for an antique rifle that was stolen from Thomas Belcher’s home the night he was killed.

Detective David Scheurer said the rifle, a Lee Enfield with a scope, belonged to Belcher and was a family heirloom. The rifle was identified Wednesday when Belcher’s son, Matt, confirmed it with a picture detectives obtained through internet searches.

“We’re hoping someone comes forward because maybe the suspect sold it or traded it,” Scheurer said.

He said detectives already visited local pawn shops to see if they could track it down.

“Nothing,” Sheurer said.

He also said there are no suspects in the homicide that left Belcher dead in his home on Fourth Avenue Sunday morning.

Belcher, who also owns Belcher’s House of Rock on Orange Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds on Sunday around 2:30 a.m.

Belcher’s calling hours will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wappner Funeral Directors at 98 South Diamond Street. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

Those with information regarding the whereabouts of the Lee Enfield rifle are encouraged to call Detective Scheurer at 419-755-9748 or email him at dscheurer@ci.mansfield.oh.us.
