MANSFIELD — The Mansfield City School Board seeks community input in its search for the district’s next superintendent.

On May 14, the board will host a public forum in the Pete Henry Gym at Mansfield Senior High School, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The board is using Mid-Ohio Educational Services Center as it searches for candidates. It also has a public job posting.

Prospective candidates have until May 14 to submit applications, according to the district website, Tygerpride.com.

“We will limit regular business to necessary items, then open a public dialogue,” board President Renda Cline said on TygerPride.com. “We will talk about what we, as a board, want to see in a superintendent, then ask for public input. We want to hear ideas and opinions, but we will not permit criticism or promotion of any individual. There will be a reasonable time limit for speakers.”

After the public forum, the board will head into executive session and begin selecting candidates for interviews that will begin May 21. It’s not known if internal candidates will be accepted.

At its last meeting, the board made it clear they were eager to find candidates.

“We will be diligent in finding the best qualified person to meet the needs and expectations of our district,” Cline said via the district’s website. “Our goal is to make that selection as soon as possible so that the new superintendent can be directly involved in preparing for the start of the 2019-2020 school year in August.”
