Shaffer, Johnston, Lichtenwalter & Associates, Inc., (SJL) an Ohio civil engineering consulting and surveying firm in business for over 70 years, is currently looking for an entry level or experienced civil engineer for a full-time position in our Mansfield, Ohio office for residential, commercial and industrial land development, bridge, highway, street, drainage and hydraulic design.
The successful candidate will have:
• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• Co-op and summer internships will also be considered
• Engineer Intern status in Ohio is strongly preferred
• Willingness to learn a variety of civil engineering design tasks
• Should be willing to live in or near Richland County in north central Ohio
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word are preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment under the supervision of a senior engineer
Job responsibilities:
• Assist senior engineers in the planning and design of a variety of projects
• Coordination with surveyors in preparing existing base mapping
• Preparation of grading plans, storm water management design and reports
• Storm sewer design
• Water and wastewater design
• Preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
• Street and Roadway design including plan and profile sheets and cross sections
• Structural design including bridges, culverts and headwalls
• Assistance with preparing all calculations, notes, details, reports and permits
