ONTARIO — The Humane Society of Richland County (HSRC) is looking to the community after three cases of heartbreaking, inhumane neglect have brought in 25 animals.

Nine dogs, 5 puppies and 12 cats were pulled from the three locations where living conditions included garbage, feces and urine.

“Cases like these will require a lot of veterinary and staff care to ensure we get these poor animals back to both physical and mental health,” stated Linda Chambers, Executive Director. “They are confused and scared. One of the dogs will not come out of her cage.”

The HSRC is a non-profit and runs 100% on donations. It is not affiliated with any other organizations or any state, local or national governments.

“We are looking to our community to help with monetary donations for vet care for the animals,” continued Chambers. “We do need newspapers, paper towels and Lysol wipes. We currently have enough food, blankets, towels and other cleaning supplies.”

The animals are still being assessed and will not be up for adoption as these are currently active cases. When available, they will be posted on the website and Facebook page. A completed application and appointment is necessary for adoption due to current COVID restrictions.

Anyone wishing to donate money can do so through the website adoptourstrays.com, on their Facebook page or drop off at the shelter located at 3025 Park Ave West, Mansfield, OH 44906.
