LEXINGTON — Lexington High School celebrated Friday evening with commencement exercises for its Class of 2024 at the high school football stadium.

Senior Scott Bartlett delivered the Honors Activity Address and senior Jacob Halfhill provided the Scholar Address. LHS Principal Jami Masi offered remarks to the class.

Board of Education President Keith Stoner recalled long-time board President Bob Whitney, who passed away Jan. 1 at age 88, the longest serving school board member in Ohio history.

Stoner pointed out that Whitney, first elected in 1964, was on the board when every current Lexington BOE member graduated from Lexington High School.

“If you think about Mr. Whitney a lot, you are not alone,” Stoner said.

Senior class President Piper McManes, who took a class “selfy” photo of the class from the stage, led her classmates in the traditional tassle-turning ceremony.

A fireworks ceremony followed the 90-minute graduation ceremony.
