The district announced the news Wednesday morning on Facebook — including a letter sent to staff members by Superintendent Brad Turson.

“I would personally like to congratulate all teachers, administrators and support staff for their work collectively to make this recognition possible for our district,” Turson wrote to district staff members.

“Putting students first to provide the best education possible for all continues to lead to achievement, growth and success in our district.

“The impact you continue to make on our students continues to make a difference in their lives. Thank you for continuing to build pride and provide motivation for all involved with our district.”

Plymouth-Shiloh Local Schools met Momentum Award requirements

The district was chosen to receive the award based on its Ohio School Report Card results during the 2022-23 school year.

According to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, results are “designed to give parents, communities, educators and policymakers information about the performance of districts and schools.”

In a letter to Turson, ODEW Director Stephen Dackin said the Momentum Award is for a Local Educational Agency who’s “improved their performance index by three or more points from the 2021-22 report card to the 2022-23 report.”

Furthermore, the awarded district is required to have earned a value-added rating of four or more stars in order to be considered.

ODEW Director applauds district’s ‘commitment to excellence’

Dackin said the district’s accomplishment reflects its “unwavering commitment to excellence,” as well as the “outstanding services” it provides to its students and community.

“It recognizes the devoted teachers and staff who consistently go above and beyond, ensuring that all students receive exceptional learning and instruction.”

The director added the “tireless” efforts of district staff members hasn’t gone unnoticed — explaining their impact “extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future leaders of tomorrow.”

Dackin commended teachers, administrators, support staff and students for their collective contributions.

“Your commitment to providing top-notch education and fostering a supportive community is truly commendable,” he said.

“May the Momentum Award serve as a source of pride and motivation that continues to inspire, innovate and make a difference in the lives of your students.”
