On March 17, 2024, Wanda Lorene Sims Erbse, age 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wanda was born on July 26, 1926, grew up in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Kenmore High School. Wayne Erbse and Wanda Sims were married in 1947, a marriage that lasted 69 years. Wanda had numerous jobs including managing the Dynamic Discount Drugstore in Ashland, Ohio for many years. Later, she went on to write 7 children’s books and wrote a column called “Noah’s Ark” for Union Gospel Press, where she described many of God’s wonderfully created animals.

She was a faithful church member all of her life, taught Sunday School over 40 years, and participated in chapels for Temple Christian School in Mansfield, Ohio for many years.
Wanda is survived by Marty and Penny Benton (daughter and son-in-law), David and Randi Blevins (daughter and son-in-law), Drew and Alicia Benton (grandson and wife), Luke Benton (grandson), Bethany and Brandon Hagerman (granddaughter and husband), Rustin Blevins (grandson), Lisa Leeman (granddaughter-in-law), eight great- grandchildren, and Nancy and Marvin Grove (sister and brother-in-law).

She was preceded in death by Wayne Erbse (husband), Carmine Henniger (sister), Bud Sims (brother), Richard Sims (brother), June Buie (sister), Larry Sims (brother) and Adam Benton (grandson).

Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, with the Celebration of Life service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio 44905. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
