Shelby 55, Lutheran West 46

Second-ranked Shelby used a big fourth-quarter rally to upset defending state champion and No. 1-ranked Lutheran West 55-46 in Saturday’s Division II regional championship game at Bowling Green State University.

The Longhorns took a 14-12 first-quarter lead, and maintained a 22-20 halftime edge.

Lutheran West edged forward 37-33 entering the final period, and enjoyed a 40-33 advantage shortly into the fourth quarter.

However, Shelby’s defense shutout the Longhorns for more than six minutes and outscored Lutheran West 22-9 in the period to secure the victory.

The Whippets’ Mr. Basketball candidate Alex Bruskotter pumped in a game-high 27 points, including a 15-of-16 performance at the free throw line.

Camden Preble Shawnee routs Versailles

Camden Preble Shawnee dominated from start to finish in an imposing 53-32 win over Versailles during this Ohio boys high school basketball game on March 16.

The first quarter gave Camden Preble Shawnee a 14-11 lead over Versailles.
