MANSFIELD — Sergeant Jonathan P. Ahles has announced his retirement from the Mansfield Division of Police effective March 4, 2024.

“Sergeant Ahles’ retirement represents a loss to the Mansfield Division of Police, the citizens of this community and culminates a career that has exemplified the best qualities of a law enforcement professional,” stated Mansfield police Assistant Chief Jason Bammann.

Ahles was appointed to the department on Feb. 11, 1994. As a new Patrol Officer, he was assigned to the Community Services Bureau Patrol Section.

In 2002 he went to the Neighborhood Impact Section until his promotion to Sergeant on Feb. 14, 2005.

As a Sergeant he transferred back to the Neighborhood Impact Section on Sept. 8, 2015, where he worked throughout the community as a liaison officer to promote community interactions, and assisted the Neighborhood Watch organizations throughout the city.

During the course of his career, Sergeant Ahles was a Certified Officer for the Project Life Savers, a Field Training Officer and Supervisor, and the Supervisor for the Mansfield Police Cadets.

The police department noted that Ahles is known for his hard work, dedication, initiative and positive attitude toward his work and co-workers.

Throughout his career he has received numerous Special Commendation Awards, letter of recognition and letters of appreciation from citizens and fellow law enforcement personnel.

“Jon has our congratulations upon his retirement and our heartfelt thanks for many years of loyal service. We wish him the greatest success and happiness in the future,” Bammann said. “Happy retirement and good luck, Jon.”

Everyone is invited to a farewell reception for Jon on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
