SHELBY — Jonah Worthington was selected student of the month when the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment conducted its monthly tests in February.

“Jonah comes to class, helps his little brother in class, and steps up to assist and help with anything the instructor needs assistance with,” said Chief Reneta Music.

“He demonstrates perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy, self-control, and also humility. These qualities need to be demonstrated in a student to receive the student of the month certificate, along with becoming a black belt,” Music said.

There were 25 students in attendance and all received some type of advancement. Those that received a belt rank promotion were Jonah Worthington and Jackson Parmer, purple belts; Adrian Potts, green belt; Luke Medley, blue belt; Jackson Medley, orange belt; and Emerie Benedict, yellow belt.

The monthly test was done at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.

“We would like to thank Julie Schwartz for opening the doors of the OBS for us to hold our monthly tests. Please consider donating to OBS https://www.ohiobirdsanctuary.com/,” Music said.
