MANSFIELD — Residents from Primrose Retirement Community in Mansfield recently visited the Lexington Senior Center to deliver some random acts of kindness to the visitor at the center.

Residents attended a Busy Bees activity to bag up some tasty cookies to hand out and then we also handed out $10 gift cards from McDonalds and IHOP restaurants.

Here’s a first-hand account of the day:

We went out to lunch afterwards, which we treated them to lunch, and they even had some left-over cookies and cards to pass out to workers and lunch goers at the restaurant

This is only one of our yearly outings out in the community to show our kindness to others. In the past we also visited the Harmony House delivering toys, gift cards and handmade-knitted hats to the patrons there that the residents raised money for in raffles.

We will also be delivering homemade dog biscuits to the Humane Society and Richland County Dog Pound later this month as part of National dog biscuit month. We consistently make and do things for the Richland County New Store also.

My residents are always participating and volunteering their time for community projects that I (Angela Gardner, Life Enrichment Coordinator) schedule for them to partake in.

We even made cards for a young man struggling with cancer in the hospital, made hats for newborn babies, cancer patients, cards to Veterans overseas, cat toys for cat rescues, dog bandanas for the dog pound. The list goes on.

Many of these residents used to be active in volunteering in the community and can no longer do a lot so I try to bring things to them to make them feel as though they are still a part of the community and can make a difference.

We are always looking for ways to contribute out in the community and are open to suggestions. Please feel free to call Angela Gardner at Primrose Retirment Community 419-526-2900.
