WILLARD -- Willard High School is proud to announce the 4th annual Honor Run 5K run/walk.
Registration is now open for runners and walkers for Nov. 6, 2021. The race will begin at Willard High School at 9 am. Runners have the opportunity before the race to dedicate their run/walk to a local veteran.
Participants who register by Oct. 22 are guaranteed to receive a unique race shirt. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall as well as in each age category. Each runner will receive a race medal, designed specifically for the Honor Run 5K. Awards will be presented by local veterans following the race.
Proceeds from the Honor Run will be used towards other student-organized events honoring veterans including:
● Seats for Honor Flight/Huron County Honor Bus
● Military Appreciation Nights
● Veterans Day Programs
● MIA/POW honor seats
● Future Willard, Ohio Veterans Memorial
Anyone wishing to register for the Honor Run 5K can do so in person in the high school office, or by printing the registration from the school website front page or completing the form online at www.tinyurl.com/honorrun2021.
Area veterans will be presenting awards. Participants can dedicate their race to veterans or those currently serving. Post-race photos and medals will be presented by students and veterans.
All veteran programs are sponsored by WHS Teen Leadership Corp, FFA, and Student Council members and their advisors. WHS is proud to be a Purple Star School, awarded from the Ohio Department of Education for their support of military families and veterans in their community.
