MANSFIELD -- Summer is here, with a vengeance. And it looks like she's going to have the thermostat turned up to blast the rest of this week.
According to the National Weather Service, a prolonged period of above normal temperatures is expected through Friday. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s each day. Humidity will begin to increase Tuesday with heat index values reaching the mid 90s to near 100 degrees in northern Ohio.
Consecutive days of high heat can increase risk for heatrelated illnesses. Overnight lows will trend warmer as the heat persists, providing little relief from the hot conditions. The warmest areas will be Northwest Ohio, including the Toledo metropolitan area.
Heat advisories may be needed for portions of northern Ohio later this week.
