Vitality Natural Wellness and Medspa was recently recognized in the top five percent of medspas in the nation.

MANSFIELD — Tranquil music and bits of greenery greet visitors of Vitality Natural Wellness and Medspa.

The soothing ambiance is intentional: “We have created an environment where we want people to come in and feel nourished,” said Dr. Melissa McRae, founder and medical director of Vitality Natural Wellness and Medspa, located at 42 N. Main St., Suite B, in downtown Mansfield.

But what exactly is a medspa, anyway?

“A medical spa, or a medi spa as a lot of people call it, is a medical facility where we do medical grade aesthetic treatments,” McRae explained.

The aesthetic treatments are meant to help improve skin texture and tone, as well as reverse signs of aging.

“The level of treatments can be more intense because we have medical background into how we're taking care of the skin,” McRae noted.

Proper skin care can sometimes fall by the wayside, but it’s important to bear in mind that the skin is the body’s largest organ, and healthy skin is vital to a person’s wellbeing.

And while Vitality offers a number of services that can help improve a person’s skin, the Vitality staff aren’t simply focused on the end results, but also educating and equipping people to live healthier lives.

“We try to make sure that we can educate our patients,” McRae said. "That's a big component of what we feel is so important about our patient experience.”

Whether it’s at their facility or via social media, “We try to make sure that patients are getting great tips and that we can be a resource for them,” McRae said.

“We don't do stuff just because it's trendy. We do stuff because it's going to positively affect our patients,” she added.

This patient-focused concept, McRae believes, is one of the qualities that sets Vitality apart from other medspas, and what’s helped propel them into the top five percent of medspas in the nation — a recent recognition they garnered.

“Our focus has always been on a relationship-based approach when working with our patients, as well as really listening to what they're looking for,” McRae said. “We never recommend something just because we want to do it. We give them all of the different treatment options, and sometimes there are options that we don't even do.

“Our goal is to give the patient what they need, and most of the time we can do that for them, and if not, we will make sure they get what they need. I think patients really feel that from us, that we're really, truly looking out for their best interest and we will do whatever we need to do to make sure they get the best result.”

Vitality offers a variety non-surgical aesthetic services.

“We have what I would call our ‘curiosity’ or ‘entry-type’ procedures, and that's for somebody who would love to have their skin to look better, but they're just not sure what they want to do and they're a little bit nervous about anything that would involve a needle,” McRae said.

“We have some amazing treatments, such as dermalinfusion — and dermal infusion is really a revolutionary type of treatment. It uses diamond-tip microdermabrasion, and we're able to infuse serums at the cellular level using this technology. It feels great. Your skin looks great. It's really a medical grade facial.”

Another more advanced treatment they offer is Sculptra, which works deep within the skin to stimulate collagen production. Click here for more aesthetic services

Vitality, which has offices in both Mansfield and Powell, also offers a number of wellness services, such as auto-immune, weight loss, IV therapy, injectable therapy, as well as services geared toward men.

“If somebody has had a rough day and they want to come in and just be a part of the space and sit in the massage chair or do a detoxification session through the infrared sauna or do an anti-aging protocol in the infrared sauna, it’s available to them,” McRae said.

“If we have somebody who has a wedding coming up and they just want to get rid of a few trouble spots, we do that. We might find out at the same time that they are just so tired. And if they are, then we can address that through our medical training that we have.

“It's a place for everyone.”

Dr. Melissa McRae is the founder of Vitality Natural Wellness and Medspa in downtown Mansfield.

McRae opened Vitality about four-and-a-half years ago. She is a board-certified family physician specializing in integrative medicine and non-surgical aesthetic medicine. She had a traditional family practice for 12 years before committing to a wellness-based practice in Mansfield.

“During that time, I always loved to focus on wellness and disease reversal/disease prevention, and along with that I had a large women's practice — I saw the whole family, but I took care of a lot of women — and so it naturally was a segue into some of the nonsurgical cosmetics,” McRae said.

Vitality staffs about 12-14 people, including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants and administrative professionals.

“We train with world-renowned aesthetic trainers and our providers work very diligently to make sure that they are at the highest skill level, and we are always results-focused but also relationship-focused.”

Vitality Natural Wellness and Medspa is open Monday through Friday. For more information on services, or to schedule a free consultation, call 419-989-4342.
