MADISON TOWNSHIP — The future of Madison softball is looking bright.

The Rams, who will play in this week’s Division II regional tournament, landed seven players on the All-Ohio Cardinal Conference team and six of them are underclassmen.

Senior Paige Eldridge earned a spot on the OCC first team, along with sophomore teammates Bri Bowles and Olivia Schulz. Sophomore Hope Barrett and freshman Emily Nolan were second team picks, while junior Bailey Lyons and freshman Kyleigh Reiter were honorable mention selections.

OCC champion Mount Vernon, which will play in the Division I regional tournament this week, swept the individual awards. Senior Brooke Radermacher was selected the OCC Player of the Year and fellow senior Emma Jones was recognized as the Pitcher of the Year. Ryan Pentz was selected the Coach of the Year after leading the Jackets to an 11-1 league finish.

Lexington’s Jillian Bammann and Jillian Morr were selected to the OCC first team, along with Ashland’s Natalie Atkins, Brandilyn Reymer and Kristen Stromack. Mount Vernon’s Layne Cook and Makaylia Schlosser and Wooster’s Taryn Welts also earned a spot on the OCC first team.

Second team selections included Lexington’s Camryn Campbell and Kaylie Eichorn, Ashland’s Hailey Lang, Mansfield Senior’s Briana Perry, Mount Vernon’s Maddy Burdette, Carlena Fiorilli and Mollie Pentz, Wooster’s Paige Becker and West Holmes’ Kenzie Woods.

Honorable mention selections included Ashland’s Averi Iceman and Tressa Moody, Lexington’s Sydni Clever and Kylie Galownia, Mansfield Senior’s Alexis Goad and Am’Marie Taylor, Mount Vernon’s Alanta Spurgeon and Rae Straight, West Holmes’ Felicity Cline and Keegan Uhl and Wooster’s Hannah Chupp and Tori Pettorini.
