MANSFIELD — They played a thriller in the regular season and Ontario and Madison could meet again later this week.

Both the top-seeded Warriors and No. 3 Rams survived last week’s sectional tournament and will be in action in the Edison district.

Ontario takes on No. 2 Bellevue at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the first game of a district semifinal doubleheader at Edison High School. Madison meets No. 6 Vermilion in the nightcap.

Ontario beat Madison 4-2 in early April.

The Warriors, who finished third in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference a game behind co-champs Clear Fork and Marion Pleasant, advanced with a 4-3 win over No. 8 seed Shelby. The Ohio Cardinal Conference runner-up Rams punched their ticket to the district with a 4-0 win over Norwalk.

The winners will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Edison for the district title. Madison beat Bellevue for the district crown a year ago.

In Division III, No. 6 seed Bucyrus will play No. 3 Margaretta at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lexington. The Lady Red stunned top-seeded Crestview 3-0 in last week’s sectional championship game. No. 2 Galion will play No. 5 Edison at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lex. Galion advanced with a 4-3 win over No. 7 Huron. Edison upset No. 4 Clear Fork, marking the first time in 18 years the Colts didn’t win a sectional title.

In Division IV, defending state champ Hillsdale, the No. 2 seed in the Copley district, will play No. 3 Dalton at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The Falcons advanced with an 18-1 win over Lake Center Christian in the sectional championship game.

In the Division IV Shelby district, Richland County rivals Plymouth and Lucas meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shelby High School. The second-seeded Big Red beat Buckeye Central 11-1 for a sectional title last week while the third-seeded Cubs beat Seneca East 11-1.
