COLUMBUS — Nicole Jones put an exclamation point on her brilliant high school golf career Saturday at Ohio State’s Gray Course.

The Shelby senior followed Friday’s 73 with a final-round 75 and a two-day total of 148, good for medalist runner-up honors at the Division II state tournament.

Gates Mills Hawken’s Ella Wong was the state medalist with a 146. Wong matched Jones for Saturday’s low round with a 75 after carding a 71 Friday.

In four seasons, Jones was a three-time All-Ohioan. She finished 15th individually as a freshman, seventh as a sophomore and 10th as a junior. Shelby finished second as a team her freshman year.

Colonel Crawford finished 12th in the team standings with a two-day total of 773. Katie Reynolds led the Eagles with a 187, followed by Lucy Myers (190). Chelsea Daubenspeck (195), Sophie Beck (201) and Katie Hanft (220) rounded it out for Crawford.

Lima Central Catholic won the team title with a 656.

Galion takes 10th

In Division II boys action at NorthStar in Sunbury, Galion finished 10th in the team standings with a two-day total of 704.

Columbus Academy won the Division II boys title with a 611.

Nick McMullen led the Tigers with a 171. Nate McMullen and Logan Keller shot matching 175s, while Max Longwell had a 183 and Nate Barre had a 192. All five Galion players shot lower final-round scores than they had in Friday’s opening round.

In Division III boys action at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course, Mapleton’s Brock Durbin finished with a 186. Durbin carded a 92 Saturday after opening with a 94.
