FINDLAY — Nicole Jones is going back to state and this time the Shelby senior will have some company from north central Ohio.

Jones shot a 74 to take medalist honors at the Division II district tournament Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. She will be joined at state by Colonel Crawford, which earned the fourth and final qualifying spot with a team total of 387.

The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team earned bids to next week’s Division II state tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Course. The two-day event tees off Oct. 15 and concludes Oct. 16.

A week after claiming her third straight Valley View sectional title, Jones won her first district crown by two strokes over Hicksville’s Kenzie Schroeder.

Jones was fifth at last year’s district tournament with a 78 and sixth with a 77 as a sophomore in 2019. She will be making her fourth straight appearance at the state tournament.

Colonel Crawford, meanwhile, will be making its first-ever trip to Columbus.

Junior Sophie Beck shot a 97, followed by senior Katie Reynolds (98) and senior Katie Hanft (102). Senior Chelsea Daubenspeck had a drop score of 116.
