LEXINGTON – The green flag drops on Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course tomorrow with the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio starting off the race season.

On the spectator calendar for the 35th consecutive year, the June 23 to 25 event is the longest continuously running feature on the 2.4-mile, 15-turn permanent road course in Lexington.

Over 200 participants are entered in this Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) sanctioned event. It will be history in motion with some of the most memorable racing machines turning laps again at speed around the historic track.

Unique, international marques like Alpha Romeo, Ferrari, Lotus and McLaren to name a few and American classics including Cobra, Corvette and Mustang will all run wheel-to-wheel.

The off track action is highlighted by two different car shows. The British Car Showdown happens on Saturday, June 24, and the Concours d’Elegance is set for Sunday, June 25, open to all classic and sports car owners.

Participants can sign up on site still the morning of each show and will be eligible to take a lap of the track during the lunch break in their cars when they register for either show.

“We can’t wait to get the season kicked off. Over 50 years of motorsports history will be on track during the SVRA racing action. Race fans can get up close to these spectacular machines as the garage area is open to the public this weekend,” said Craig Rust, President of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “The infield is also going to be jam-packed with classic and vintage sports cars entered in our car shows on both Saturday and Sunday.”

The remaining Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course spectator events for its 56th season of racing include:

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days – July 7 to 9.

The Honda Indy 200 (Verizon IndyCar Series event) – July 28 to 30.
