MANSFIELD -- The Mansfield Police Department reminds the community of the “Dirt Million Event” taking place at Mansfield Motor Speedway on Crall Road Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. each night.
This event attracts racers and attendees from across the nation and large crowds are expected each day.
"We are asking the community to keep this in mind as traffic delays are expected and may be an issue in that area due to the increased traffic volume," said Capt. Shari Robertson of the Mansfield Police. "If you are traveling through the area but not attending the race, please consider taking an alternate route to avoid any unnecessary delays and/or traffic congestion."
Mansfield Police Officers will be working the event and assisting with traffic control.
"Also, we wanted to remind residents in the area that there is a possibility the races may run later than expected and could go past the scheduled 11 p.m. end time," Robertson said. "The Mansfield Division of Police and the race organizers realize this is a possibility with any race due to unforeseen circumstance such as weather delays, crashes, etc.
"We know this is an inconvenience for those living in the area and are asking for patience and understanding if that should occur."
Police ask drivers to be cautious traveling through this area over the weekend due to the larger traffic volume and remember to “buckle up.”
"This event is a great opportunity to showcase our city and hospitality," Robertson said.
