LEXINGTON -- Lexington overcame a double-digit first-quarter deficit to come from behind and knock off Mansfield Senior 53-36 on Saturday afternoon to clinch at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference girls basketball championship.

The Tygers roared to a 14-4 first-quarter lead, but Lady Lex answered with an even bigger blitz in the second period, a 19-2 tsunami that forged a 23-16 halftime advantage. A 15-6 scoring binge in the third period made it 38-22 heading to the final quarter, and put the game away.

Gabby Stover registered 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Avery Coleman contributed 10 points and 10 boards. Lexington enjoyed a 42-28 rebounding advantage.

Akira Johnson topped Senior High with 13 points and JayJahnae Feagin chipped in 11.

Lexington improves to 12-8 overall, 9-2 in the OCC. Lady Lex hosts Mount Vernon on Thursday for a chance at an outright title.
