MANSFIELD -- A familiar name returns to the sidelines next winter when Roy Shoulders returns to the bench for the St. Peter's girls basketball team.
Shoulders, a former boys and girls basketball coach at St. Peter's, as well as an assistant under Gregg Collins at Mansfield Senior, was hired as the girls head basketball coach Friday, according to the school.
"I am humbled to be coaching one of the most respected girls' basketball programs in the state of Ohio," Shoulders said. "We will do all we can to make those who came before us -- making the program what it is today -- proud of how we represent the school and St. Peter's community."
Shoulders is a 31-year veteran teacher at St. Peter's in social studies, sociology and advanced physical education. He is also the school's assistant principal.
His 29 years of high school coaching experience includes 10 seasons as head boys' basketball coach at. St. Peter's with an overall record of 124-94, seven sectional titles, two district titles, one district runner up, and one regional runner up.
He also coached a total of seven years as assistant boys' basketball coach at Mansfield Senior High School and Clear Fork High School.
