Perennial powerhouse Kirtland grabbed a 35-18 victory at the expense of Beverly Fort Frye in Friday night's Division VI state semifinal football game.
The Hornets opened with a 14-6 advantage over the Cadets through the first quarter. Fort Frye closed to within 21-18 at halftime.
But it as all Hornets in the fourth quarter, as they enjoyed a 14-0 scoring edge over the Cadets to clinch it. Kirtland tangles with Maria Stein Marion Local in next week's Division VI state championship game. Marion Local ended Seneca East's with a dominating 34-6 performance.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the schedule for next week’s football state championship games at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
Friday night after the state semifinal games in Divisions I, II, III and VI, the OHSAA announced on its Twitter page when the state championship games will take place in those divisions.
The Divisions IV, V and VII state semifinals are Saturday at 7 p.m. The OHSAA has already determined when those divisions will play their state championship games next Saturday, Dec. 1.

10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30 – Division VI: No. 1 Kirtland (14-0) vs. No. 3 Maria Stein Marion Local (13-1).
3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30 – Division III: No. 1 Kettering Archbishop Alter (13-1) vs. No. 4 Chagrin Falls Kenston (13-1).
8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 – Division I: No. 9 Lakewood St. Edward (10-3) vs. No. 1 Cincinnati Colerain (14-0).
