If there was a silver lining in Mansfield Senior’s 20-17 loss to West Holmes last week, it could be found along the line of scrimmage.

Senior High’s inexperienced offensive line is getting better.

The Tygers may have rushed for only 54 yards on 21 attempts, but veteran coach Chioke Bradley said he liked what he saw up front.

“We challenged the offensive line and I felt like those guys did a great job,” Bradley said afterward. “You’re never going to be perfect. They had a couple miscues and a couple penalties, but we have two freshmen playing down there at center and right guard.”

Freshmen Jaden Jones and Symirr Phillips already are regulars up front, along with sophomores Ahman Thomas and Carmelo Smith.

“All in all I thought the O-line guys fought their butts off,” Bradley said. “That was the expectation all week and I thought they accepted the challenge.”

The Tygers (3-1) will have to be at their best up front when they visit Tiffin Columbian. The Tornadoes boast one of the top rushing defenses in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division.

Here is a capsule look at some Richland County games in week five:
