MANSFIELD -- Two Richland County football teams, Mansfield Senior and Lucas, will strap on their helmets for their respective state crowns this weekend. 

For the past two weeks, Richland Source readers have shown their support for these student athletes as each tries to make history with a win in the state championship. The Tygers and Cubs have each received massive support from the community - and each other - during their playoff run. Considering what's on the line this week, let's give them one last boost.

Mansfield Senior High (13-1) will play Trotwood-Madison (11-3) for the Division III state championship at 3 p.m. Friday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. The Rams beat top-ranked Columbus Bishop Hartley 24-19 in Friday’s other state semifinal at London High School.

Lucas (12-2) will play Maria Stein Marion Local (12-2) for the Division VII state crown at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Marion Local pounded Patrick Henry 40-6 in the other semifinal game at Lima Spartan Stadium.
