MANSFIELD -- Ninth-ranked Maple Heights showed why it's considered one of Ohio's best Division II teams on Friday night, rolling past Mansfield Senior 38-14 at Arlin Field.
The undefeated Mustangs (5-0 overall) rocketed to a 12-0 first-period lead, expanded the bulge to 26-7 at the half, and cruised to a 32-14 bulge after three quarters.
Mansfield Senior (2-3) got within 12-7 early in the second period when Angelo Grose caught an 11-yard TD pass from Donovan Haney. But the Tygers could muster just one more touchdown, a 10-yard scoring toss from Alijah Grose to Angelo Grose in the third quarter.
Amajeon Robinson topped Senior High with 88 yards rushing, but the Tygers were outgained 405 to 188. Angelo Grose threw for 58 yards and caught a pair of TD passes.
Maplet Heights' receiver Bernard Bates was the star, catching four TD passes and eight aerials overall for 128 yards. Quarterback Devin Dial ran for 103 yards on 17 carries and added a TD on the ground. In the air he hit on 15-of-23 passes for 214 yards and four scores.
Mansfield Senior hosts Lexington on Friday night.
