Tygers Cubs

MANSFIELD — Are you ready for some state championship football, Richland County?

How about the Tygers and Cubs coming together again?

A county-wide, community pep rally is planned Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the Mansfield Senior Tygers and Lucas Cubs football teams. It's the first time any school in Richland County has earned a spot in state championship football games.

The rally will be on the square in downtown Mansfield and will feature players, coaches, cheerleaders and bands from both schools, which play this weekend in state football title games.

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker and Lucas Mayor Todd Hall will host the rally.

The Tygers (13-1) play Trotwood-Madison (11-3) on Friday at 3 p.m. for the state Division III title.

The Cubs (12-2) play Maria Stein Marion Local (12-2) on Saturday at 10 a.m. for the Division VII state championship.
