BELLVILLE — Friday was a tough night on what should’ve been an exciting evening for Clear Fork football.

The Colts were playing their first regular-season game on brand new turf. The 2019 Clear Fork Hall of Fame class was recognized before the game began, too.

As the game began, Clear Fork quarterback Brennan South tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Tacoma Orr for a 7-0 first-quarter lead. That was the last time things went according to script, as the Blue Aces snapped the hosts’ 21-game winning streak.

Granville dominated each of the final three periods, with Doak Buttermore running for two scores and throwing for another, to pull off a 21-7 victory.

This marked the Colts first regular-season loss since the final week of the 2016 regular season. That was Clear Fork’s final year in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.

The Colts are 1-1, while Granville improves to 2-0. Clear Fork returns to action Friday at Lexington.
