SHELBY — Nicole Jones joined her older sister in an exclusive club.

The Richland Source girls golf Player of the Year, Jones capped her high school career with a second-place finish at the Division II state tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Course last month.

Jones shot a two-day total of 148, two strokes behind state medalist Ella Wong of Gates Mills Hawken.

A Findlay golf recruit, Jones joined older sister Alexis as Shelby’s only state medalist runner-up. Alexis Jones was runner-up twice and was state medalist as a junior.

Nicole Jones qualified for the state tournament all four years. She was 15th as a freshman, shooting a two-day 163. She carded a 146 as a sophomore, good for seventh place. As a junior she shot a 153, finishing 10th.

Jones was the medalist at both the Valley View sectional (71) and the Sycamore Springs district (74). She was a three-time sectional medalist and set the tournament record with a 65 as a sophomore.

Jones is joined on the All-Richland Source team by two other state qualifiers.

Klaira Paramore, Ashland: A senior, Paramore capped her high school career with a fourth appearance at the Division I state tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Course. Her two-day total of 154 was good for a tie for 25th, her best showing at state. Paramore was the medalist runner-up at the district tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, carding a 75. She tied for fifth at the sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs with an 84.

Lucy Myers, Colonel Crawford: Just a sophomore, Myers helped the Eagles reach the Division II state tournament for the first time. She led the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with a 43.86 stroke average. Myers tied for sixth at the Valley View sectional with an 88 and tied for 16th at the Sycamore Springs district with a 90. She had a two-day total of 190 at the state tournament at Ohio State’s Gray Course, good for a tie for 56th.

Brooklynn Adkins, Ontario: A junior, Adkins was a model of consistency during the postseason. She shot an 82 at the Division I sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs, finishing fourth. A week later at the district tournament at Stone Ridge, she again carded an 82 to finish fourth.

Hannah Smith, Lexington: A junior, Smith shot a 78 and was medalist at the Division I sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs. She carded an 87 at the district tournament at Stone Ridge, finishing in sixth place.
