TIFFIN — The weather didn’t seem to bother Katie Ruffener and her Colonel Crawford teammates Friday at the Division III Tiffin regional track meet.
Ruffener won regional titles in the 100 meter hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the long jump as the Eagles finished second in the final team standings.
Liberty Center won the regional title with 64 points. Colonel Crawford was second with 46 points, followed by Defiance Tinora (43).
Ruffener won the 100 hurdles in 14.49 seconds, while Lucas’ Shelby Grover also earned a state berth with a third-place finish of 16.07. The top four finishers in each event qualified for next week’s state meet.
Ruffener won the 300 hurdles in 45.58, while Grover was second in 45.84. Ruffener’s third gold medal came in the long jump with a winning leap of 18 feet, 3.5 inches.
Crestview’s Morgan Welch earned a state berth in the 1,600, finishing fourth in 5:19.96. Teammate Reagan Garrett was third in the discus competition with a throw of 121-9.
The Colonel Crawford 4x100 relay team of Kiv Krassow, Lynae McKibben, Rylee Ritzhaupt and Cassidy Vogt was third in 50.94.
