LEXINGTON — Dylan Spears poured in a game-high 21 points and Lexington outscored Ontario in each of the first three quarters to fuel a 59-49 non-conference victory between the backyard Richland County rivals.

The Minutemen (2-2 overall) grabbed a 16-14 first-quarter advantage and enjoyed a 31-23 halftime margin. Lex stretched the gap to 44-32 heading to the final eight minutes before coasting to the non-conference win.

Kaydan Berry had 13 points for Lexington, while Max Waldruff added 11 and Danny Shaffer posted nine points.

Griffin Shaver’s 19 points spearheaded Ontario’s offense. Shaquan Coburn chipped in 16 points and Amil Upchurch notched eight points.

The Lexington defense limited the Warriors to just 38 percent shooting (14 of 38). The Minutemen survived 20 turnovers by forging a 39-27 rebounding advantage.

Ontario dips to 1-2 heading into Thursday’s home game against River Valley.
