Update (9:15 p.m.) BUTLER TOWNSHIP — After nearly five hours on the water, rescue teams suspended their search for a missing teenage boy for the night.
Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer said in a press release that the teenage boy who had gone missing in the Kokosing River on Tuesday afternoon could not be found by sundown.
Boat crews and divers from Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, Fredericktown Community Fire District and Coshocton County searched the area near Honey Run Park for five hours, to no avail. The search is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning, Shaffer said.
Deputies responded to a call at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday concerning a 15-year old boy from Columbus who had gone missing in the Kokosing River.
The boy had been swimming near Honey Run Park with two other teens and an adult “when the incident occurred,” Shaffer stated. The press release does not describe the nature of the incident.

BUTLER TOWNSHIP – Dive teams are currently searching for a teenage boy who went missing in the Kokosing River on Tuesday afternoon, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
The Knox County Dispatch Center received a call at 3:28 p.m. from Hazel Dell Road in Butler Township, a short distance from Caves Campground and Honey Run Falls, where a Mount Vernon man drowned last Friday. The Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District and Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, and the Fredericktown Community Fire District sent a boat and divers in mutual aid, FCFD public information officer Jason Bostic said.
