You think about life and how a lot of things come about because of change, whether good or bad, but how?

In my time at The Ridge Project we talked about things on a very personal level. The co-founder talked about how he couldn’t emulate faithfulness or commitment because he didn’t know what it looked like. So how do we bring about change to a city like Mansfield if we don’t know what that change looks like?

Thankfully there’s this thing in the weird city of Austin, Texas called SXSW. Here at SXSW I’ve sat in sessions with people I’ve never heard of and others I’ve only dreamed of being in the same room with.

Who are these people? I’m glad you asked: Molly Beck, Tal Shmueli, Lisa Skeete Tatum and Daymond John, to name a few.

A lot of the sessions I went to were about how change happens on a personal level, and gave tips and formulas on how to facilitate this change within and for yourself. This is great because not only has it elevated me as a person, but I love to pay it forward and help the next person. We’re talking about change for our city here. The change for our city starts with me, it starts with us...and yes, that means you too.

My time here will be to dissect everything I’m taking in and think about how it can facilitate change, and in some cases blaze the trail in the workplace. I’m a firm believer that the biggest part of change is a culture.

Tal Schmueli said, “Your boss is not responsible for your’re responsible for your bosses' happiness”. So how do you change a culture and the way people think? Thankfully SXSW has provided us with tools for such a thing.

Don’t be afraid to be a part of something different. Stay tuned, buy in, and believe the change is possible!
