This blog is written by one of 15 individuals attending the South By Southwest Conference in Austin with the intention to bring back ideas and to reimagine Richland County.

I met my fitness guru, Shaun T.

I was trying to make it to another session at SXSW, but could not find it and fell into his presentation. My head was down all day searching my SXSW app and following GPS on my phone.

Maura Teynor.

If you do not know Shaun T. His first hit video was Hip Hop Abs. His other workouts include T-25 and Insanity Max.

I do his workouts two or three times a week via video at the Mansfield Y. They are difficult, but it's worth it. Shaun says if you focus and do them every day, you will be transformed.

They are a perfect blend of entertainment and exercise. His motivating sayings include: "Keep it Right, Keep it Tight," "Nailed it" and "Shiznizzy."

His SXSW presentation was called “Unleash Your Super Powers.”

Here are his 7 super powers:

  1. Embrace being uncomfortable

  2. Being Full-Out

  3. Be Creative

  4. Be Flexible

  5. Be Selfish

  6. Feel It

  7. Go Bananas

Here is another tid-bit from Shaun T: He hates to workout but loves how he feels afterward.

To apply this to how we want to impact Richland County: Reimagining our area won't be easy, but the results will be worth the effort.

Stay tuned and follow the progress via #SXSW419. Or watch for more blogs starting Saturday, March 10 at richlandsource.com/rising_from_rust/sxsw
