MANSFIELD -- What do you remember from the filming of The Shawshank Redemption?

Nearly 25 years ago, the Ohio State Reformatory and other spots around Richland County served as the backdrop for what's become one of the most popular movies of its time, especially locally where so many families can spot their relatives and friends on screen as extras or recall memories from their interactions with the cast and crew.

Richland Source wants to hear your Shawshank story. With your help, we'll be able to share these memories in the week or so leading up to the 25th anniversary celebration.

By Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m., please submit your stories below or email Tracy Leturgey at tracy@richlandsource.com with your stories and photos.

"When I moved to Richland County in April 2017, one of the most frequent questions I got was, 'Have you watched The Shawshank Redemption?" Leturgey said. "The answer, yes. I watched it the week after it was mentioned in my job interview and again after becoming more familiar with Mansfield. And, of course, the second time around, I spotted many familiar faces and places.

"Mansfield is all over that movie."
