William M. “Bill” Davis, 82, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, following a lengthy illness.
Bill was born on May 31, 1933, in Greene County, Pennsylvania, to Karl and Mabel Davis. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany with the transportation unit, during the Korean War.
Bill retired in 1991, from Weidles Meats and Delicatessen on Springmill Street, after working there for 24 years. He had a love for helping others by running the AA meetings at Grace Episcopal Church. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
He is survived by three children, Gary G. McCoy, of Mansfield, Glenda C. McCoy, of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, and Billy M. Davis, of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Billy A. Davis and Tonya (Tim) Ralston; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alene Pratt, of Washington, Pennsylvania.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Faye Davis.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Ave. East. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Joe L. Ashby officiating. Burial will take place at Claysville Cemetery, Claysville, Pennsylvania, with full military honors.
